Kniphofia pauciflora, also known as Dwarf Poker, is a vibrant and eye-catching aquatic plant that can thrive in pond environments. It features tall spikes of tubular, yellow flowers that add a splash of color and drama to your pond.

2. Sunlight Requirements: dwarfPoker prefers full sun conditions. Ensure that your pond receives at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight each day for healthy growth and prolific flowering. It thrives in bright, sunny locations.

3. Water Depth: Plant Kniphofia pauciflora in water with a depth of 4 to 6 inches. This allows the plant to establish its roots in the substrate while remaining partially submerged. It is well-suited for the shallower edges of ponds.

4. Soil and Substrate: Choose a well-draining, loamy or sandy soil mix for planting Dwarf Poker in your pond. Plant the rhizomes or roots directly into the substrate at the recommended water depth. Ensure good contact between the roots and soil.

5. Fertilization: Kniphofia pauciflora benefits from regular fertilization. Use a balanced aquatic plant fertilizer or slow-release fertilizer tabs designed for pond plants. Apply fertilizer in early spring and periodically throughout the growing season following package instructions.

6. Water Quality: Maintain good water quality in your pond. Regularly monitor and adjust the pH levels to keep them between 6.5 and 7.5. Ensure that your pond water is free from pollutants and toxins to promote healthy growth and flowering.

7. Pruning and Maintenance: The Red Hot Poker is relatively low-maintenance. Remove spent flower spikes and dead foliage as needed to encourage continuous blooming. Prune away any yellowing or damaged leaves to maintain an attractive appearance.

8. Winter Care: Kniphofia pauciflora is generally cold-hardy and can tolerate freezing temperatures. It may die back in the winter and regrow in the spring. Minimal winter care is typically required.

9. Pests and Diseases: Dwarf Poker is generally resistant to pests and diseases in pond environments. However, occasional inspection for signs of aphids or snails is a good practice. Treat any infestations promptly with appropriate pesticides if necessary.

10. Wildlife Attraction: The vibrant and nectar-rich flowers of Kniphofia pauciflora can attract pollinators like bees and butterflies to your pond area. Additionally, the plant's foliage can provide shelter for small aquatic creatures.

  • These pond plants have a waiting period of 2-3 weeks before they will be available. This is due to the logistics and athe fuel price to get it from the farm to our facility in Gezina.
  • Regarding shipping -

Pick up – if you pic up, they will be sold as potted plant in a 15cm pot.

Shipping via courier – To protect the plants against damage during transport and save on freight costs, We will remove it out of the pot, clean and package them in individual bags.
