Epipremnum aureum 'N'Joy' — Care Sheet
Epipremnum aureum 'N'Joy', commonly known as N'Joy Pothos, is a compact, attractive variegated pothos with green leaves featuring creamy-white variegation. It is relatively easy to grow and makes an excellent trailing or climbing houseplant.
 
☀️ LIGHT
Give your N'Joy bright, indirect light.
Good light helps maintain strong white variegation and compact growth. It can tolerate lower light, but the plant may produce smaller leaves, longer gaps between leaves and more green growth.
A little gentle morning sun is usually beneficial, but avoid strong afternoon sun, which can scorch the white portions.
 
💧 WATERING
Allow the top 2–4 cm of the growing medium to dry before watering again.
When watering, soak the medium thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Do not keep the roots permanently wet.
N'Joy is considerably more tolerant of being slightly too dry than being constantly waterlogged.
 
🪴 SOIL
Use a loose, well-draining mix that retains some moisture while allowing plenty of air around the roots.
A good aroid mix can contain:
Coco peat or quality potting mix 
Orchid bark 
Perlite or pumice 
Good drainage is more important than using a specific recipe.
 
💦 HUMIDITY
N'Joy is adaptable and can grow well at normal household humidity.
Around 40–70% relative humidity is generally suitable.
Higher humidity can encourage good leaf development, but high humidity without adequate airflow is not automatically better.
 
🌡️ TEMPERATURE
Keep warm and protect the plant from cold conditions.
Ideal: 18–30°C
Avoid prolonged temperatures below approximately 15°C and protect it from cold draughts and sudden temperature changes.
 
🌱 FERTILISING
Feed during active growth with a complete balanced fertiliser at a moderate dilution.
Regular, sensible feeding will support healthy foliage and new growth.
Do not overfertilise in an attempt to increase variegation — fertiliser cannot create the white variegation.
 
🌿 GROWTH & TRAINING
N'Joy naturally produces a trailing growth habit but can also be trained to climb.
For a fuller hanging plant, allow several vines to grow from the pot and trim long runners when necessary.
For larger leaves, provide a support such as a moss pole or other climbing structure. Climbing growth can produce substantially larger foliage than allowing the plant to trail.
 
✂️ PROPAGATION
N'Joy is easily propagated from stem cuttings containing at least one viable node.
Cuttings can be rooted in water, sphagnum, an appropriate propagation medium or directly into a suitable growing mix.
A leaf without a node cannot produce a new plant.
When selecting cuttings, choose sections with good variegation if you want to maintain attractive variegated growth.
 
⚠️ COMMON PROBLEMS
Leaves becoming mostly green: Usually associated with insufficient light or natural variation in the plant's growth.
Yellow leaves: Often caused by excessive watering, poor drainage or stressed roots.
Brown/bleached areas: Can result from excessive direct sunlight, particularly on the white sections.
Long gaps between leaves: Usually indicates insufficient light or a lack of climbing support.
Root rot: Generally caused by prolonged saturation and poor aeration around the roots.
 
🐾 IMPORTANT
Epipremnum aureum contains calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic if chewed or ingested. Keep away from pets and children.
